The Logan Sapphire: A 423 Carat Blue Gem

The famous Logan Sapphire was donated to the Smithsonian Institution in 1960. It is the second largest blue sapphire known and originated in Sri Lanka. The brooch has 20 round diamonds. I tried to capture some of its fantastic hue through the fingerprinted glass.
